The European Society for Medical Onocology (ESMO) has just announced that the President for 2020-2021 is Solange Peters, MD, PhD, Head of the Medical Oncology Service, Chair of Thoracic Oncology, Oncology Department, Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Vaudois.
Commenting earlier today Josep Tabernero, Director of VHIO and President-elect of ESMO, who will serve as President for the forthcoming 2018-2019 term, observed, “Solange is an exceptional medical oncologist, strong leader, gifted researcher and generous mentor, she will undoubtedly stand to benefit ESMO by strengthening programmes aimed at expanding independent academic research, identifying and developing initiatives to respond to the needs of our younger colleagues, and engaging in two-way dialogue with our rapidly expanding membership to better tailor our activities to regional realities, tendencies and country-specific policy points.”
