Green VHIO

Our objective is to raise awareness about the urgency of climate threat and take actions towards contributing to the transition to climate neutrality

In 2021 VHIO officially started a journey to support the European Climate Pact. The objective of “Green VHIO” is to raise awareness about the urgency of climate threat and take actions towards contributing to the transition to climate neutrality. The unique vision for this community at VHIO is to advocate the role of environmental protection in cancer prevention and to report on sustainable research practices.

The Green VHIO team seeks to fulfil its mission through different events and actions. In this regard, five Green Groups were formed:

  • Greenform (providing information, seminars)
  • Green enVHIOment (creating healthier environment at VHIO)
  • Green commute (transport-related actions)
  • Green labs (informing on sustainable research practices)
  • Into the Green (outdoor environmental activities)

It’s first initiative, consist of offering freely available apples from greengrocers at the reception of Cellex and Adolfo Marsillach buildings every fortnight. This action is a kind gesture to remind us that increasing consumption of fruit and vegetables is not only more sustainable, but also crucial to prevent development of several diseases, including cancer (More Info)

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all the people involved in launching the Green VHIO project, especially Kinga Bernatowicz, the VHIO Climate Pact Ambassador.

The Green VHIO project has thus far integrated great scientific and administrative personnel including: Laura Soucek, Maria Abad, Berta Colldeforns, Xenia Villalobos, Carmen Escudero, Daniel Masso, Alba Llop and Marta Ligero.
