Over the last two months “la Caixa” Banking Foundation, one of VHIO´s patrons and invaluable supporters, has championed a major campaign entitled Los imprescindibles – Crucial People, featuring the following Spanish thought leaders in biomedicine as part of the main media program:
José Baselga, Physician-in-Chief of the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC), New York) and President of VHIO´s Internal Scientific Committee; María Blasco, Director of the Spanish National Cancer Research Centre (CNIO); Valentín Fuster, Director of the Spanish National Cardiovascular Research Centre (CNIC) and Physician-in-Chief of the Mount Sinai Medical Hospital in New York; Maite Mendioroz, Director of the Navarrabiomed Epigenetic-Alzheimer Laboratory; Eduard Gratacós, Director of the Fetal Medicine Centre at Hospital Clínic- Sant Joan de Déu; Bonaventura Clotet, Director of the IrsiCaixa AIDS Research Institute, and Pedro Alonso, Founder of ISGlobal and Director of WHO´s World Malaria Programme.
In addition to these contributions, Josep Tabernero, VHIO´s Director, and Elena Garralda, Executive Director of the Research Unit for Molecular Therapy of Cancer – “la Caixa” (UITM), and Principal Investigator of VHIO´s Early Clinical Drug Discovery Group, were also invited to help drive the Los Imprescindibles campaign through dedicated video spots which also launched on the official Los Imprescindibles website and on YouTube as the campaign kicked off.
This year´s Los Imprescindibles initiative finishes this week and the protagonists of the final phase are the teams of researchers who work tirelessly day in, day out, in their quest to solve disease sooner. In order to raise the visibility of these efforts and further stress the importance of research across the various research programs that “la Caixa” Banking Foundation supports, scientists and clinical investigators contributed to the campaign by taking pictures in their respective research environments and laboratories with #ConlosImprescindibles written on their hands and then sharing with the campaign organizers and posting via their social media channels, including mention of @FundlaCaixa.
VHIO Communciations would like to thank all VHIO faculty who helped to support this campaign by snapping and sharing their #ConlosImprescindibles pictures, as well as posting and disseminating the following VHIO video spots:
