According to data published by the World Health Organization (WHO) more than 300,000 women across the globe died from cervical cancer in 2018. Discussing necessary actions and latest advances aimed at preventing future deaths from this tumor type, Ana Oaknin talks to VHIO Communications about the lack of access to screening programs in low- and middle–income countries (LMICS), the critical need to reverse this terrible situation, and pioneering research to potentiate novel immune-based therapies against metastatic disease.

This must-have conversation is as relevant to this January’s Cervical Cancer Awareness Month as it is to next month’s World Cancer Day (WCD), February 04.  This year marks the midway point of the 3-year ‘I Am and I Will’ WCD campaign. ‘I Am and I Will’ is an empowering call-to-action urging for personal commitment and represents the power of individual action taken now to impact the future. More specifically, this 20th Anniversary edition centers on tackling key issues including cancer prevention and risk reduction as well as equity in access to cancer services and care.
