World Cancer Day’s call to act for a cancer-free world: what will you pledge to help reduce the global burden of disease?

2020 celebrates the 20thanniversary of World Cancer Day (WCD), taking place on February 04 every year. Marking the midway point of the 3-year ‘I Am and I Will’ campaign, the three critical areas for action are: increasing awareness and understanding of this disease; rallying for prevention and risk reduction; and achieving equity in access to cancer services.

Commenting for VHIO Communications, our Director, Josep Tabernero, said, In parallel with the promising research advances that we are collectively driving towards more precisely and effectively treating this disease, we must engage all stakeholders to focus on prevention strategies –both at the individual and population levels- as well as devise and implement comprehensive National Cancer Control Plans. Only then will we truly succeed in reducing the global cancer burden.”
