Job description:
The Computational Immunogenomics group, led by Francisco Martínez-Jiménez, is currently searching for a dynamic and driven bioinformatician to join our team. This opportunity involves engaging in diverse projects aimed at unraveling the genomic underpinnings of tumorigenesis and its intricate interactions with the immune system.
The candidate will play an integral role in our translational research projects, actively contributing to the development of data-driven applications that directly impact clinical practice. Her/his involvement will encompass curating, organizing, and effectively analyzing extensive cancer genomics and transcriptomics datasets of patients treated with cancer immunotherapies.
Responsibilities:
- Efficiently process and analyze internal and external cancer genomics (WES/WGS) and transcriptomics data from patients treated with immune checkpoint blockade.
- Identification of composite biomarkers of upfront immunotherapy resistance.
- Prepare reports to be shared with clinical collaborators.
Requirements:
- Degree in bioinformatics, computer science, biological sciences or similar.
- Experience of at least 6 months.
- Strong knowledge of Unix operating systems
- Fluent in Python/R and in Bash scripting
- Excellent organization skills.
- Knowledge of processing and analyzing cancer genomics data (WGS/WES).
- Team player.
- Good English communication skills.

Desired:
- Experience with Nextflow and/or Snakemake pipelines.
- Experience with Google Cloud Platform and/or Amazon Web Services.
- Experience with transcriptomics and single-cell RNA-seq data.
Conditions:
- Full-time position: 40h/week
- Starting date: 1st July of 2024
- Gross annual salary will depend on experience and skills. and always guaranteeing the minimum remuneration established in the VHIO collective agreement for each professional category.
- Contract: permanent linked to project, to carry out scientific and technical activities.
