Job description:
The Prostate Cancer Research Group is seeking an experienced Research Technician to join our group to conduct exosome-based liquid biopsy assays.
Our group focuses on studying and testing hypothesis-based targeted therapies in prostate cancer and we are especially committed to applying the potential clinical value of our findings to clinical trials. Among our different research lines, part of the group is focused on developing exosome-based liquid biopsy assays, including wet and dry lab scientists. We are seeking an organized, motivated and team-oriented individual with previous experience working in a clinical/translational research laboratory either in the academic or private sector. The candidate should have previous experience in working with patient plasma/blood samples as most of the projects they aim to develop novel liquid biopsy NGS tests, as well as in-vivo experiments with mouse models.
Tasks:
- Processing, aliquoting and storage of prostate cancer patient’s blood and plasma samples from different studies.
- Maintenance of a biological sample database
- DNA and RNA extraction from tissue, saliva and plasma/blood samples.
- Drug trials in pre-clinical models: experiments with cell lines and mouse models.
- Exosome biology and biomarker applications
Mandatory requirements:
- Experience with handling human samples
- Experience with in-vivo mouse work (including certification to work with mouse models)
- Experience in cell culture and molecular biology techniques
- Experience with maintaining databases
- Exceptional attention to detail, scientific rigor, and strong organisation, troubleshooting and multitasking skills.
- Capacity to work in teams
Additionally, the following will also be favourably considered:
- Experience in next-generation sequencing
- Experience with ddPCR and qPCR
- Experience with liquid biopsy analytes and/or assays
- The candidate is expected to be able to communicate well in English, even if it is not his/her first language.

Working conditions:
- 📝Permanent contract.
- 💶Salary according to qualifications and experience following VHIO pay scales.
