Job description:
The Prostate Cancer Translational Research Group is seeking an experienced Research Technician to join our group to conduct next-generation sequencing experiments, with a focus on liquid biopsy assays.
Our group focuses on studying and testing hypothesis-based targeted therapies in prostate cancer and we are especially committed to applying the potential clinical value of our findings to clinical trials. Within our group, 4-6 people are dedicated to NGS assays, including wet and dry lab scientists.

We are seeking an organized, motivated and team-oriented individual with previous experience working in a clinical/translational research laboratory either in the academic or private sector. The candidate should have previous experience in working with patient plasma/blood samples as most of the projects they will be involved aim to develop novel liquid biopsy NGS tests.
The tasks to be carried out will be:
- Processing, aliquoting and storage of prostate cancer patient’s blood and plasma samples from different studies.
- DNA and RNA extraction from tissue, saliva and plasma/blood samples.
- Preparation of next-generation sequencing libraries.
- Occasionally, the candidate may need to help in cell culture, cloning and transfection tasks to provide support to other projects of the group.
Requirements:
What do we need?
- Experience with handling human tumor samples
- Training in Good Clinical Practice for managing clinical research specimens.
- Experience in next-generation sequencing
- Experience with maintaining databases
- Exceptional attention to detail, scientific rigor, and strong organisation, troubleshooting and multitasking skills.
Desirable skills:
Additionally, the following will also be favourably considered:
- Experience with ddPCR, qPCR and FISH
- Experience with assays for isolation of circulating tumor cells and/or cell cytometry
- Experience in preparing sections from paraffin blocks
- The candidate is expected to be able to communicate well in English, even if it is not his/her first language.

Working conditions:
- Permanent full-time contract.
- Salary will be estimated according to profile and experience.
- Immediate incorporation estimated on October.
