Recently captured at the 2011 ASCO meeting, Joan Seoane, Director of the Vall d´Hebron Institute of Oncology´s (VHIO) Translational Research Programme talks to ecancermedicalscience about the Institute´s translational research model, current research into stem cells and biomarkers aimed at providing a more effective, personalized approach to treatment as well as data surrounding brain cancer stem cells and the various signaling pathways that can be used to combat brain tumours.
Serving on the Executive Committee of the European Association of Cancer Research (EACR) as Representative for Young Researchers, as well as Chair of the Local Organizing Committee of its forthcoming 22nd Biennial EACR Congress From Basic Research to Personalised Cancer Treatment, 7 – 10 July 2012, Barcelona, Spain, he concludes by anticipating just some of the many reasons for making EACR-22 a must-attend meeting in 2012.
