Announced at this month´s 24th Biennial Congress of the European Association for Cancer Research (EACR), 09 – 12 July, Manchester UK, which drew an attendance of some 1500 cancer scientists and physician-researchers from over 60 countries, its Board size and thus capacity has now expanded from 12 to 16 members and has recently incorporated seven new appointments as EACR embarks upon its 2016 – 2018 term.
Championed by current President Anton Berns, who took over the leadership reins from Past President Richard Marais at the very same Congress, EACR has appointed VHIO´s Joan Seoane, who has volunteered his expertise and support for EACR across various committees for several years, as Secretary General.
“It is a true honor for me to continue to serve EACR´s rapidly expanding membership. Just one week after my current appointment as Secretary General was announced, our Association today celebrates a multidisciplinary membership counting over 10,000 members”, comments Joan Seoane, Director of Translational Research at VHIO.
“To continue to respond to the needs of EACR´s increasingly multi-stakeholder and growing membership, as well as predict the trending hot-spots in precision oncology that will translate in future requirements of our members, we have reinforced leadership and expertise at Board level. Collectively we are dedicated to increasing EACR´s portfolio of educational opportunities aimed at closely connecting all oncology professionals and spurring the necessary cross-talk across disciplines”, he concludes.
