Various leading figures, across several autonomous regions, have been preselected by DIARIO MEDICO as worthy candidates based on their respective contributions to advancing healthcare and research, exceptional mentorship, as well as demonstrated heart and dedication to their corresponding fields.
Josep Tabernero, VHIO´s Director, Head of the Medical Oncology Service of the Vall d´Hebron University Hospital (HUVH), and President-elect of the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO), is one of the eleven highly deserved nominees selected from within Catalonia. Josep has been chosen by the periodical to run as a candidate in recognition of the outstanding contributions he has made to advancing precision cancer science, treatment and care for an increasing number of patients, as well as his boundless energy, second to none leadership, and absolute devotion to the oncology field.
As a reflection of Vall d´Hebron´s excellence, among these eleven internationally renowned thought leaders, three others have also been chosen from within the Vall d´Hebron Barcelona Hospital Campus: Josep Sánchez de Toledo, Head of HUVH´s Pediatric Oncology and Hematology Service, Miquel Casas, Head of the Vall d´Hebron Research Institute´s (VHIR) Psychiatry, Mental Health and Addictions Group, and Xavier Montalbán, Director of the Multiple Sclerosis Centre of Catalonia (Cemcat).
