On the weekend of 19 and 20 October, the massive solidarity initiative Pink Run Palau and Pink Run Mir was held with the participation of 2.850 people with the common goal of raising funds for breast cancer research at VHIO.

The Association Sin teta hay paraíso, founded in 2022 in Montcada i Reixac, is a non-profit organisation that aims to promote and help women affected by breast cancer socially and emotionally.

After the success of the previous editions of the Pink Run Mir de Montcada i Reixac, the association detected the need to grow and create a new race in Palau Solità i Plegamans, the Pink Run Palau to increase the funds raised in favour of lobular breast cancer research.

Sandra Diaz, delegate of the association in Palau Solità i Plegamans, in collaboration with the City Council of Palau Solità i Plegamans and the Palau Solità i Plegamans Athletic Club organised the first Pink Run Palau on Saturday 19 October.

A 3km race brought together 685 people and was a great success. The event included open yoga, line dancing, and Zumba classes. At the end of the race, the mayor of Palau Solitá i Plegamans, Oriol Lozano, and Jordi Aranda, councillor of Health and Animal Welfare, congratulated the organization and thanked the participation of all citizens.

Dr. Josep Tabernero, head of the Medical Oncology Service of the Vall d’Hebron University Hospital and director of the Vall d’Hebron Institute of Oncology (VHIO) attended the Pink Run Palau to collect the donation check for 7.500€.

I want to thank Manuela and all the people of the Association Sin teta hay paraíso for organizing this first race in Palau Solità i Plegamans. And of course, also for organizing the Pink Run Mir, now in its seventh edition. Without you this would not be possible”, thanked Dr. Tabernero.

On 20th October 2166 participants participated in the historic Pink Run Mir, filling the streets of Montcada i Reixac with pink. The 4km race, with a circular route, also ended with zumba classes and activities for the whole family.

During the event, the president of the association, Manuela Muñoz, together with the mayor of Montcada i Reixac, Bartolomé Egea, the councillor for Sports, Carles Vilalta, the councillor for Health and Public Health, Dori Alcalá, presented the cheque to Dr. Meritxell Bellet and Dr. Esther Zamora, the two medical oncologists of the Vall d’Hebron University Hospital and researchers of the Breast Cancer Group of VHIO, and Sergi Cuadrado, deputy manager of VHIO, jointly thanked the participants for their participation and the donation.

More than 2,000 people participating in this event is truly extraordinary. We are very aware of the importance of this initiative and of continuing to work every day on research into infiltrating lobular breast cancer, which affects so many women”,’ said Dr. Bellet.

She added: “Your help will allow us to better understand the prognosis of this tumour and determine which patients require chemotherapy or hormone therapy.” Thank you for your collaboration for yet another year.

Sergi Cuadrado awarded a plaque of recognition to Manuela Muñoz, president of the association, for her commitment and collaboration in breast cancer research at VHIO in recent years.

Thank you again, Sin teta hay paraíso, for your help that allows us to continue working on lobular breast cancer research.
