Academy recognition of VHIO´s Director, Josep Tabernero, for his exceptional leadership and contribution to medical oncology, cancer science, and patient care

Announced this week, Josep Tabernero, Director of VHIO, Head of the Medical Oncology Service of the Vall d´Hebron University Hospital (HUVH), and President-elect of the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO), has been appointed as Member of the Royal Academy of Medicine of Catalonia in recognition for his international standing, authority, and exceptional contribution to the practice of medical oncology and the advancement of cancer science, treatment and care.

In the company of some of the region´s most renowned trailblazers in the medical sciences and healthcare, his appointment to the Academy represents important acknowledgement of his commitment and drive that, in collaboration with his exceptionally dedicated team of medical oncologists, healthcare professionals in oncology, care-providers, physician-scientists and researchers, have significantly advanced the practice of cancer medicine and improved the treatment and care for numerous patients within the region of Catalonia and beyond — both nationally and at international level.

Josep will deliver his acceptance speech on Sunday 26 February, 18:30h, at the Royal Academy of Medicine of Catalonia, C. del Carme, 47, 08001 Barcelona.
