Pioneered by Virgil H. Simons, Founder and President of the patient education and advocacy group The Prostate Net, the second in our VHIO-IDIBELL-ICO patient awareness symposia series entitled: When Prostate Cancer Comes Back, will take place 12 April 2019, 09:00h – 13:00h, at the Hotel Barcelona 1882.
Building on the successes of the inaugural meeting last October, Fighting Prostate Cancer: From the Laboratory to the Patient, next month’s morning workshop, especially tailored to patients and lay audiences, will center on disease relapse and update on the latest clinical advances and next directions in cancer science aimed at more effectively tackling the recurrence of prostate cancer.
Co-organized by Joaquin Mateo, Principal Investigator of VHIO’s Prostate Cancer Translational Group, and Álvaro Aytes, Principal Investigator of the Resistance and Progression Mechanisms in Prostate Cancer Group, Bellvitge Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBELL) – Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO), the program kicks-off with an informal, mix and mingle welcome breakfast followed by renowned experts presenting on and around five different timely topics.
Joining the panel of speakers will be VHIO’s Joan Carles, Principal Investigator of our Genitourinary, CNS Tumors, Sarcoma & Cancer of Unknown Primary Site Group, and Alena Gros who directs VHIO’s Tumor Immunology & Immunotherapy Group, who will deliver talks on Making clinical prostate cancer research patient-centricandThe future of recurrence treatment: the Immunotherapy example, respectively.
