Job description:
The Cancer Cell Cycle Group led by Dr. Marcos Malumbres offers a position for a Researcher Assistant and Lab Manager in the field of Cancer Cell Biology. For more information you can visit our group website: https://malumbreslab.org/
Work in the laboratory involves cutting-edge technologies such as cell-based assays, single-cell studies, CRISPR screens, isolation and manipulation of circulating tumor cells, organoids, genomics and proteomics, etc. These technologies will be applied to identification and validation of cellular mechanisms of resistance to current therapies, and the analysis of new therapeutic candidates within the CDK and related protein kinase families. The candidate will also be involved in the analysis of biopsies from breast, ovarian or colorectal cancer patients with strong collaboration with clinical groups at VHIO.
Successful candidates are expected to have strong technical skills in molecular and cell biology with experience both in research projects as well as in the management of a research lab. The candidate will be part of a multidisciplinary team composed of junior and senior scientists, and will participate in specific research projects either as a leading scientist or in collaboration with other group members. In addition, the candidate is expected to have a major role in the daily organization of the laboratory. Problem solving and troubleshooting skills required.
Requirements:
- Strong experience and skills with more than 5 years of work in molecular and cellular biology, or cancer research.
- Previous experience in lab management
- Strong motivation, teamwork and team development skills
Additional information:
- The candidate is expected to have experience in molecular and cellular biology techniques, cell culture and bioinformatic tools.
- Fluency in English, spoken and written is also required.
- Bioinformatic and image analysis skills will be an asset.
