The second edition of the VHIO Postdoc Day brought together the institute’s postdoctoral community to learn, reflect, and connect. Held under the theme of “Impactful Leadership”, the event encouraged participants to explore new perspectives on how leadership and impact are defined in today’s scientific landscape.
Organized by the VHIO Postdoc Council in collaboration with the VHIO Academy, the initiative gathered 40 postdoctoral researchers at the historical Palau Macaya to strengthen the sense of belonging within the community and promote collaboration across VHIO’s multidisciplinary environment.
Throughout the morning, with the guidance from Iris Uribesalgo, Phd Policy Oficer EU-Life, participants reflected on how research output extends beyond traditional metrics of scientific quality. Later, with Míriam Bayes, Systemic Leadership Expert, as a facilitator, discussions centered on the importance of rethinking the value and impact(s) of modern science, as well as what it means to be a responsible leader, one who nurtures meaningful interactions that enhance collaboration and improve the quality and reach of their research findings.
This edition of the VHIO Postdoc Day underscored the commitment of VHIO’s postdoctoral community to building a culture of impactful, ethical, and collaborative science that looks beyond metrics to embrace the broader value of research in society.
