The Sin Teta Hay Paraíso Association, founded in 2012 in Montcada i Reixac, is a non-profit organisation whose goal is to promote and provide social and emotional support to women affected by breast cancer.
The Pink Runs have become annual events for many citizens of Montcada i Reixac and Palau Solità i Plegamans. The association has raised outstanding work in raising awareness about breast cancer research in these towns. It has encouraged the community to participate actively and with a strong commitment every year.

On 19 October, the 8th edition of the Pink Run Mir took place, with nearly 2,000 participants. This emblematic event in Montcada i Reixac was held with the collaboration of Montcada i Reixac Town Council and the Joventut Atlètica de Montcada. It also received support from local companies and businesses.
Participants ran through the town’s streets, joined by VHIO professionals such as Dr Esther Zamora and Dr Nadia Gómez, medical oncologists at Vall d’Hebron University Hospital and researchers in VHIO’s Breast Cancer Group, together with Sergi Cuadrado, Deputy General Manager of VHIO.
Manuela Muñoz, president of the Sin Teta Hay Paraíso Association, said:
“The people’s participation is incredible — it surprises me every year, and it’s truly impressive. There’s a huge amount of effort behind each Pink Run, but it’s worth it to raise so much money for breast cancer research.”

A BOOST FOR LOBULAR BREAST CANCER RESEARCH
Lobular breast cancer accounts for around 10% of cases and has biological characteristics that differ from the more common breast cancer types. However, it is often underrepresented in studies and treatment guidelines.
Dr Esther Zamora shared more details about the project with participants:
“Since 2016, thanks to the support of Sin Teta Hay Paraíso, the project ‘Lobular Cancer Also Exists’ has been working to better understand this tumour type. It has also been working to identify which patients are most likely to benefit from chemotherapy or hormonal therapy.”
As every year, the race concluded with an awards ceremony for the winners. This was followed by the symbolic presentation of a cheque to VHIO researchers representing the funds raised.
This year, VHIO surprised the association representatives with the gift of a laboratory coat. This symbolises that thanks to them, research into lobular breast cancer continues to move forward.
Bartolo Egea, Mayor of Montcada i Reixac, also expressed his gratitude for the strong community participation and congratulated the association on its success.
In Montcada i Reixac alone, more than €22,000 was raised through race registrations and other solidarity activities held throughout October. This included the charity theatre production “Princesas” at the town’s Espai Kursaal.
THE SECOND EDITION OF THE PINK RUN PALAU: A PARTICIPATION SUCCESS
More than 1,000 people took part in the second Pink Run Palau on Sunday 26 October.
Sandra Díaz, delegate of the Sin Teta Hay Paraíso Association in Palau Solità i Plegamans, organised this year’s edition in collaboration with the local council. This reaffirms the community’s enthusiasm for supporting breast cancer research through public events.

Again, the streets turned pink. Dr Meritxell Bellet, medical oncologist at Vall d’Hebron University Hospital and researcher in VHIO’s Breast Cancer Group, joined the walk as an active participant.
At the end of the event, the association’s organisers, together with Oriol Roca, Mayor of Palau Solità i Plegamans, and Jordi Aranda, Councillor for Health and Animal Welfare, presented the cheque with the race’s proceeds to Dr Bellet.
Dr Meritxell Bellet, who leads the project, explained to the attendees:
“This donation will allow us to continue developing the project and make more precise decisions about the most suitable treatment for each patient.”
Thanks to initiatives such as the Pink Run in Montcada i Reixac and Palau Solità i Plegamans, and to the ongoing commitment of the Sin Teta Hay Paraíso Association, lobular breast cancer research continues to progress.
VHIO’s effort and solidarity make it possible for VHIO to keep improving patients’ diagnosis. This is done by transforming every step and contribution into better treatments for those affected by this disease.
