Maurizio Scaltriti-Genomic dependencies and vulnerabilities in solid tumors

  • Speaker:  Maurizio Scaltriti, Associate Laboratory Member, Human Oncology & Pathogenesis Program, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, New York
  • Talk title: Genomic dependencies and vulnerabilities in solid tumors
  • Date & time: Tuesday 8th September, 15:00h
  • Host: Josep Tabernero, VHIO’s Director, Head of the Gastrointestinal and Endocrine Tumors Group

Maurizio Scaltriti studies molecular vulnerabilities and mechanisms of tumor adaptation to targeted therapy.

The core of his research is divided into two scientifically complementary strategies: the genomic and proteomic analysis of patient samples that can be hypothesis-generating for the identification of gene/pathways associated with therapy sensitivity, and the biochemical validation of these hypotheses in the laboratory to dissect the molecular mechanisms and validating the causative role of potential players of drug resistance. Ideally, these findings will translate into more efficacious and safe antitumor treatments.
