As Chief of Molecular Diagnostics Service, he oversees large scale prospective clinical genotyping efforts based on a variety of next-generation sequencing technologies (most notably the MSK-IMPACT platform) which form the basis for a center-wide precision medicine strategy. He also directs a research laboratory which studies the genomics and molecular pathogenesis of sarcomas and thoracic malignancies, with a focus on novel therapeutic targets and strategies. For 12 years, he was a lead investigator in the TCGA Network, and is part of the group that recently received the 2020 AACR Team Science award for this major body of work. Thanks in part to his role in major team science efforts such as TCGA and MSK-IMPACT, he is author or co-author on over 550 publications in PubMed.
