Job description:
We seek a computational biologist to lead a newly created Support Unit for different research areas at VHIO, mainly focused on the analysis of genomic and transcriptomic (both RNA-seq and Chip-seq) data from different tumor types including real-time data from patients’ samples.
The successful candidate will have previous experience working with cancer genome databases, including retrieval and data management from public data bases such as EGA, dbGaPde, and an understanding of the complexity of data sharing in large collaborative projects. Applicants should be able to work independently and across multiple projects.
Requirements:
A Bioinformatician with a PhD in biomedical sciences or similar (i.e. at least 3-4 years’ experience and peer-reviewed publications).
Applicants must be proficient in processing and analyzing genomic and transcriptomic data, particularly in oncology.
Experience using GNU/ Linux systems, preferably Ubuntu.
Fluency in R., knowledge of Python and other programing languages will also be favorably considered.
Proficiency in English.
Additional information:
Knowledge of statistical modelling or machine learning, as well as other omics (e.g. proteomics) will also be considered as advantageous.
Salary will be based on the specific profile and experience of the candidate.
