The event provided a valuable platform for reviewing the project’s progress, sharing preliminary findings, and aligning on next steps.

The SAGITTARIUS clinical trial is led by Dr. Clara Montagut (IMIM) as Study Chair, with Dr. Elena Élez serving as Co-Chair for Spain. The trial is focused on improving post-surgical treatment strategies for colon cancer patients through innovative and less invasive approaches.

The meeting concluded with a workshop moderated by Dr. Montagut, featuring updates on the clinical trial’s advancement. The agenda also included a scientific lecture by Dr. Noelia Tarazona (INCLIVA) on whole-exome, tumor-agnostic circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) analysis in localized colon cancer—an emerging tool in precision oncology.

About the SAGITTARIUS EU Project

SAGITTARIUS is a pioneering clinical research project exploring a personalized post-surgical treatment model for colon cancer. By leveraging liquid biopsy—specifically, the analysis of circulating tumor DNA—the study aims to tailor therapies based on individual risk, improving patient outcomes while reducing unnecessary treatments.
