At the PRECISEU General Assembly, held during the Life Sciences Baltics Conference in Vilnius, Lithuania, the innovative project PragmaTIL was honored with the PRECISEU Best Practice Recognition in the category of Excellence.
Led by the Vall d’Hebron Institute of Oncology (VHIO), PragmaTIL was recognized for its outstanding work in harnessing health data to optimize TIL-ACT (Tumor-Infiltrating Lymphocyte Adoptive Cell Therapy) strategies—aiming to reduce treatment-related toxicities while preserving efficacy for patients with melanoma, lung cancer, and cervical cancer. The study is coordinated by Dr. Elena Garralda, Director of VHIO’s Research Unit for Molecular Therapy of Cancer UITM-CaixaResearch.
Recognizing Excellence
The PRECISEU Best Practice Recognition celebrates projects that exemplify innovation, impact, and excellence in the use of health data within regional innovation ecosystems. The award seeks to inspire the adoption and scale-up of best practices that support the digital and sustainable transformation of healthcare systems across Europe.
Receiving the award on behalf of PragmaTIL were Silvia Martin-Lluesma, Head of VHIO’s Advanced Therapies Program, and Xenia Villalobos, Project Manager of PragmaTIL. Both emphasized the crucial role of patients from the very beginning of the study, as well as the importance of data collection through the WeShare platform, which serves as a data warehouse to ultimately make the data collected in various studies available to the scientific community.
“This recognition highlights the incredible teamwork and shared vision behind PragmaTIL. It’s a testament to what can be achieved when clinicians, researchers, patients, and scientists collaborate. Through our decentralized approach to TIL production and administration, we aim to set a new precedent for conducting clinical trials across multiple academic hospitals,” commented Silvia.
