  • SERRANO Lab – Computational Biology & Bioinformatics | Chromosome Instability | Tumor Evolution | Copy Number Alterations | Driver Selection

APPLICATION DEADLINE EXTENDED TO JANUARY 29, 2024

The project aims to uncover cell-lineage-specific patterns of chromosome instability along with the critical driver events involved in the cytogenetic progression and evolution of malignant tumors of mesenchymal origin. By interrogating unique multi-omics datasets and using cutting-edge technologies and methodologies in clinically-relevant experimental models, the PhD student will delve into the underlying biological mechanisms of chromosome instability with the final goal of generating molecular classification and developing novel therapeutic strategies.

Candidates with background in both Bioinformatics and Molecular Biology will be prioritized. This PhD project will be co-supervised by Dr. Francisco Martínez-Jiménez, from the Computational Immunogenomics Group.

  • BARRIGA Lab – Cancer Genetics | Copy Number Alterations | Tumor Immunology | Genome Engineering | Immune Evasion

NO LONGER ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS

The project is focused on understanding the mechanisms by which large genomic deletions enable cancer cells to avoid the immune system in the context of disease progression and resistance to immunotherapy. By using state of the art genome engineering, mouse models of cancer, immunophenotyping, and CRISPR screening, the PhD student will dissect the biology and vulnerabilities associated to recurrent copy number alterations in pancreas cancer.

Although no a priori skills are required, candidates with experience in molecular biology, genetics, CRISPR-Cas9, and in vivo work will be prioritized.
